10/14/08 10/14/08 5pm - nTelos DSL equipment failure in the Fishersville (Emerald Hills) area stopped all DSL interenet traffic.
11/7/07 Major server failure has resulted in moving to a local nTelos server. Perhaps only temporary.
10/25/2005 Totally new web site design taking advantage of Underground's Mesonet data.
10/21/2005 Upgrade to Virtual Weather Station (VWS) control software 12.07 P52.

7/26/2004 Another lightning strike during a storm on 7/20 resulted in our weather station being off line for two full days. This caused data loss for 7/20 through 7/23. Climatology data has been lost and cannot be corrected. However, summary data and charts have been back filled with data from the Waynesboro station as well as from an alternate rain guage.
7/3/2004 A lightning strike during very heavy rain shutdown our weather station. Data stored in memory used to compute 'totals' was lost resulting in incorrect or missing 'totals' on the main weather page and climate reports. Correction has proved difficult...

11/17/03 Fishersville data now available on Weather Underground.
11/17/03 WxWatch is no longer supported and has been eliminated. Fishersville weather forcasts must now be obtained from one of the major weather services until a WxWatch replacement can be found.
10/26/03 Partial fix has been done to the wind speed sensor... However, readings may be intermittent, especially at low wind speeds.
9/24/03 Re-occurring problems with Wind Speed measurements came to a head today as this sensor has now failed. Apparently, the bearing has worn resulting in total lockup. Until further notice, wind speed data will not be available.
6/27/03 Added a "Monthly Moisture" chart to the reports page.
4/28/03 Began to send data to WxWatch. WxWatch will post station data along with other area data to for a complete weather site including the forcast. Click HERE to go to WxWatch.
3/7/03 In response to feedback received about how WHSV (Ch3) gets data from the Fishersville station... Although the data is available via this web site as well as provided in an email alert, WHSV requires that each 'weatherwatcher' call in their data. Data from this station is called in and left as a phone message around 6:10am, 11:30am, and 4:50pm each weekday. Weekend data is called in at 5:30pm. As time permits, WHSV picks up the information from the phone message and posts it on their message board. The recent WHSV'daybreak' staff changes seem to have increased the chance that a message left at 6:10am will not be picked up in time to air during the 'dyabreak' show. WVIR (Ch29) may also use the Fishersville station data WVIR optionally picks up data from this website and uses it as necessary. They typically use rain, snow, and unusual event data. Unusual events may also called in to WVIR.
2/25/03 New webcam sequence page added to allow display of the images stored for each hour during the hours between 5am and 8pm.
2/8/03 Minor changs to Help and Reports text. Added the Rain and Snow Winter Considerations topic in Help to address recent questions in that area.
1/27/03 Logic added to statistics generator program that detects some data errors. The results of this logic are posted in the "Current Weather Conditions" window and email. Suspect parameters are removed from display. A related note is placed at the bottom of the window or email.
1/9/03 Several improvements to the reports page.
1/6/03 A webcam was added to the station that points about NNE. The attempt will be to mostly get clouds but show enough surrounding land to tell if there is snow, etc.. The image is updated along with the other images around ever 30 minutes. A thumbnail image can be found on the lower right of the main page graphic. A larger image is on the right pane of the Photos page.
1/4/03 Added "Rain Tanks" to the "Live Charts" page. Switched to improved conditions icons that have the condition text on them. Reformat "reports" page links list. Removed CSV data from public view. Added 2003 tabular reports.
1/1/03 Switched from WeatherLab control software to Virtual Weather Station. Added more charts. See the "Live Charts" link on the reports page.
12/21/02 Added new report for 2002 that summarizes each month and a new chart that combines daily average temperature and snow depth. Go to the Reports page to view these new items.
12/6/02 First snow in Fishersville 12/4-12/5 with a total snow fall of 5.6".   A snow depth chart was added to the Reports page.
11/23/02 Disconnected the wind guages today in an effort to track down the data problems.  Please disregard all wind data until further notice.
11/19/02 Repeated problems with both wind and rain sensors.  Looks like some sort of interference.   To minimize effecting reports, the max wind parameter was dropped and Average Wind Gust was used in place of it.   Rain data is harder to fix.  Please use caution with current rain data.  Prior day's rain data will be corrected the following morning.
11/10/02   Switched to another control PC.  Station is now running on an IBM C65 200meg Aptiva.
11/9/02 The wind sensors were finally installed and put on line at 1:30pm on 11/9/2002.  Data prior to this date and time is not valid. 
10/30/02 Started automated updates to run about every 30 minutes.
9/11/02 Site on-line.  Contains weather data gathered from a weather station located in the Emerald Hills subdivision of Fishersville, Virgnina.  The weather station operator and web master is Jack Cameron.  Jack can be contacted via "the feedback link on the home page.  See HELP for more information.
